Dear ISHAM member, The program of the ISHAM congress in Tokyo (click here) is taking shape. Symposia will be chaired by major scientists and clinicians; for an overview of confirmed chairpersons see here. For registration at early bird rate, click here.

It has been decided to extend the Poster Presentation Call for Papers deadline to January 29, 2009. Posters are subject to review by the Program Committee; you may be asked to give an oral as well as a poster presentation. Those who wish to be reviewed for an oral presentation, please make sure to tick the oral presentation box when submitting your poster abstract. If you do not tick the box, you will only be considered for a poster presentation, not for oral.

The 6th Scientific meeting of the Nordic Society of Medical Mycology entitled “Fungal infections today: Diagnostic and treatment challenges” will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark, March 13 2009. For info, click here Contact: Dr Ditte Marie Saunte, ditte@saunte.com.

The ISHAM Working Group Malassezia database for polyphasic identification of isolates has been uploaded and you can visit it here. In order to have a useful and viable data base your feedback and contribution is imperative. Some fields are under construction and for their completion your suggestions and comments are invaluable. For the time being, it is possible to deposit clinical and laboratory information, sequences and dendrograms, as well as antifungal susceptibility and treatment outcome data. Susceptibility data can be uploaded as a free text in the field: "Additional information" or "Other". Please note that you have to register completing your email and you have to provide a password. This is free, but for safety reasons and convenience you have to keep a note of your password. Then you can complete the forms.

The 11th Congress on Pediatric Dermatology, with sessions on fungi, will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, November 17-19, 2009, with some mycological sessions. The program can be found here .
