Working Group on Chromoblastomycosis

The Working Group (WG) on Chromoblastomycosis is possibly under the umbrella of the International Society for Human and Animal Mycology (ISHAM). The aim of this network is to establish a worldwide network to cover different topics concerning chromoblastomycosis, and to involve the local physicians with the possibility to interchange data, materials and advance international cooperation and communication.

Chromoblastomycosis is one of the most prevalent and highly mutilating (sub)cutaneous diseases in tropical and subtropical climate zones. The prevalent etiologic agents are different in different endemic areas. Lesions caused by this fungus are very recalcitrant and are difficult to eradicate. Most of the cases constitute a true therapeutic challenge, relapses are often observed. With the advantage of network, it is easy to bring together the very diverse and highly scattered information and knowledge on chromoblastomycosis and related agents. Scientists, clinicians and workers in applied fields have a wealth of information on this disease and related fungi, which is currently hardly accessible. We wish to combine these data and bring workers interested in chromoblastomycosis together, as we may learn a lot from each other.

Participation in the Network is open to everybody with interest in chromoblastomycosis and related organisms. We would appreciate any comments and suggestions. It will be a great pleasure to cooperate with all of you.
