The BSMM/University College London MSc/Diploma Course in Medical Mycology

Applications are invited for this distance learning based course in the theory and practice of medical mycology. The course is based at University College London and run jointly with the British Society for Medical Mycology. Teaching is by means of DVDs, web-based materials and practical courses, and includes a research project conducted at the student’s home institution.

The course is flexible and taught in a modular format, allowing the student to take between three and five years until graduation. It is designed for scientificl or medical staff in full-time employment, who wish to extend their understanding of service and academic mycology, and develop the skills and knowledge base needed to take on the laboratory investigation and clinical management of fungal infections at a more senior level.

Students receive support and guidance from local mentors and supervisors as well as a UCL tutor. Although the course initially only enrolled UK students, it was opened up to those from overseas in 2007 and we currently have students from as far afield as Nigeria, Greece and Switzerland.

Places are limited, so if you wish to find out more please contact Anne Dickens, the course administrator  at as soon as possible to register your interest. Further details may also be found on the BSMM website at
