Fungal Disease Awareness Week (FDAW) 2026

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is hosting the 10th Annual Fungal Disease Awareness Week (FDAW) from September 14–18, 2026.

This global campaign encourages healthcare providers, researchers, and communities to “Think Fungus” when symptoms do not improve with standard therapies. Because fungal infections frequently mimic bacterial or viral illnesses, early recognition and prompt diagnostic testing are vital to saving lives and reducing inappropriate antimicrobial use.

Key focuses for FDAW 2026 include:

  • Improving early detection and diagnostic capabilities worldwide.
  • Addressing the escalating threat of antifungal resistance across clinical and environmental settings.
  • Fostering international collaboration across human, animal, and environmental health (One Health).
