This year’s meeting takes place at the heart of clinical mycology in Germany: The Cologne ECMM Excellence Center for Invasive Fungal Infections has long been an internationally respected hub for invasive fungal infections. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the local organizing team—Danila Seidel, Rosanne Sprute, and Oliver Cornely—for their dedication and effort in bringing this exciting program to life. For Oliver, who already organized the MYK2009, this marks his second MYK presidency. Back then, he served as President of our society, the DMykG. Today, he is President-elect of the International Society for Human and Animal Mycology (ISHAM)—a reflection of both his personal achievements and the international impact of the Cologne team.
Besides highlighting work from our mycological community, this years’ meeting engages highly renowned international keynote speakers and a joint symposium with our Durch colleagues and the Nederlandse Vereniging voor Medische Mycologie. I personally look forward to inspiring sessions, fruitful discussions, and reconnecting with colleagues and friends.
