Mission Statement

To investigate by conducting research about the epidemiology, treatment and outcomes of pediatric invasive fungal infections, educate by acting as the expert source for clinicians regarding diagnostic and treatment strategies for children, and discover by serving as a cohesive vehicle for pediatric-dedicated clinical trials.

Achievements of the working group in 2023

PEACE is a comparative effectiveness study for antifungal therapy for invasive candidiasis in children and adolescents (n=750). A secondary analysis of this study was performed and a manuscript has been submitted to JPIDS.

DOMINIC is a study evaluating non-invasive diagnostic strategies and outcomes for pediatric invasive pulmonary mold infections. Study enrollment continued and a second no cost extension was obtained so that enrollment goals could be achieved in this additional time.

COUNT is a study that will evaluate whether 7 more days of therapy is necessary after completing an initial 7 days of systemic antifungal therapy for pediatric uncomplicated candidemia. Participating sites began onboarding this year and we enrolled our first participant.

Upcoming events planned for 2024-2025

We will host our annual IPFN meeting at the 2024 IDWeek Conference in Los Angeles, CA, USA. Interim results will be provided in addition to study progress reports.
